Such a Compliment

8 Oct

We have been doing some eye testing on my Miles due to some reading issues.  Turns out he has some focusing problems and eye-teaming problems, meaning that the eyes don’t focus at the same pace, so he’s frequently covering up an eye to just read one-eye’d. (One eye-d? I think I just made that up. 😉 )

He was DYING for glasses, but the optometrist said they really weren’t needed.  After a few issues with the first clinic, we tried out a new one and signed up Miles for vision therapy to improve his eye issues and the doctor said that reading glasses would immediately help focus while they worked for the next 6 months or so with eye exercises.  They will likely eventually go away, but Miles was PUMPED.

I actually wish I had a video camera in the room when the doctor said he would be getting glasses and then she turned around to her computer to type in some info.  Miles did a huge fist pump, smile bigger than I’ve ever seen, mouthing some words to me that I couldn’t understand.  The doctor turned around and he immediately dropped his hands in his lap and gave a little giggle.  Too darn cute he is.

After school we went to the 1-hour eye place and picked out some glasses.  Not an easy task for a 7-year-old.  Or his mother. We had tried on about 30 pair when he found his pair. Nothing could talk him out of this pair.

There was a very good reason that this was the pair, too.

Look familiar?

Such a compliment to Daddy.

Love, love, love.
