Our (Hot as Blazes) 4th of July

6 Jul

Each year we go to the same parade. It’s great! It’s long, it has lots of candy and we have the same great spot every single year. We’ve gone for 15+ years and I grew up going. Every year but this one. Cause it was like 103 degrees. The sun was burning and it was mid-day. Cora’s skin cancer and us sort of just walking the path of “how do we do life” right now on top of the crazy humidity and heat made it easy to just skip this year.  But I was a bit bummed for the kids.

One of Cora’s biopsy sights was infected, so we spent the late morning at the doctors and then Dave and the kids visited his parents and sister while I did some work in the air conditioning.  Even the kids were too hot to do anything.

Around 7:30pm, we went outside for some simple kid-friendly fireworks.  But it wasn’t dark out yet. Cause it was 7:30. Are you getting the picture here? BUMMER of a 4th of July here. 😉

I don’t know if Cora has ever seen fireworks, but the ones with fire, even the tiny ones, scared her.

So we let the boys go out when it was dark and we happily cuddled on the couch.

She did think the little poppers were fun! But only after I had to “close her gwi” for the first few times. (Gwi=ears)

We did find out that this girl loves to be dangled by her feet. 😉  And I say, Thank goodness for daddies! Cause this mama would NEVER do this!

Tomorrow Cora goes in for an MRI of her brain. Please keep her in your prayers.

    Hi Jen,
I have been following your journey since before Cora came home and just wanted to let you know that this amazing little girl is in our prayers for healing and for strength for your family. Best wishes for a positive report from the MRI. Best, Kristen (from AF)
