Gyeongbokgung Palace – Namdaemun – Korean Village

7 Apr

We have mastered the subways in Seoul.  They are very easy, the boys love them and it makes for fun transfers. So far, people have stared and even taken pictures of us in the subway. Cracks me up.  Miles is the superstar of us. People smiling, waving, taking his pictures.  He just poses and smiles.  Too funny.

And while Logan isn’t getting the same attention as Miles, some darling 16 year olds told me that he was very handsome.  His 10 year old self felt very cool. 😉

We went to Gyeongbokgun Palace first thing yesterday morning and it was beautiful!! We took so many pictures.  Dave has a SLR camera with us but these are just from our two point and shoots. We made it right in for the changing of the guard ceremony. Super cool.

And yes, we cheesed it up.

This boy is trouble, I tell you! 🙂

Logan took this picture and two women behind us took our picture on their camera, too. Why they want a picture of the three of us is beyond me, but OK!

We then went to Namdaemun market. This outdoor market has more than 10,000 stores. It was amazing! We enjoyed a little shopping and some street food.

Miles got loved on by the mascot from Porky Kids! Logan got a kick out of that name.

Fruit on a stick for less than $1.  I say yes!

A late night swim (7:30pm) allowed the kids to get over their jet lag.  (swim caps mandatory)  They slept until 6:30am! Me? I was up at 4:15am.  Argh.

Bulgogi burger anyone?

ha! The McD’s bulgogi burger…..well…..we’ve tried it. It’s just….weird. Yeah, you’ll be rock stars this week. We always loved the random school kids who would walk up to us, and say, “Hello!” in English, and giggle. Then if they got really brave, they would ask us where we are from. We would tell them, “Chicago”. Sometimes we would get a sports star reference, and it was cute.
