We’ve Moved Past Chocolate (And Olives. And Cheese.)

8 Feb

First and foremost, an update.  The ministry has not allowed any EP’s to be submitted, let alone approved.  They are apparently away in training all week, so this week is a bust, too.  Another agency said that they met with the ministry and they felt positive they would start *sometime* this month.  Forgive me if I don’t take that as golden truth and get all excited about it.

Once submitted, we could be looking at 2-8 weeks.  Our agency is typically on the shorter end of that. Last year, the first travelers from our agency went on the 18th of Jan, so just a couple weeks. Hence why our heart was set on Jan travel.  So perhaps March travel?  Little Sarah turns 5 mid-March and little Cora turns 5 in mid-April.  We want to celebrate birthdays with our children, of course. Please pray for Sarah’s family, as they have one less month for that to happen, and it looks as though it will be very close.

We’re past healing from food in this house. 😉 We’ve take “crazy” and embraced it.

Oh, yes we have. 😉

When stress comes, my first thought is food. Specific food.  But when stress lingers, the need to eat is replaced with the need to do projects around the house.  Fully admitting to my crazy.

So far, thanks to Pintrest, I have decided that I need to:

  • think about taking the table we have downstairs, cut the base off and turn it into the coffee table we need.
  • turn a piece of wood into a huge 6.5 foot ruler to transfer over our kid’s heights to keep forever.
  • organize, organize, organize
  • menu plan!
  • turn a pallet into something. (come on, you know if you’re on pintrest you are getting bombarded with pallets!)
  • put shelves up over the kid’s desk area
  • put shelves up over the washer/dryer
  • get a curtain rod to put under the sink to hold all of my cleaners easily
  • make my own laundry detergent
  • and softener
  • and soft scrub. I don’t eve use soft scrub.

I could go on and on.  Each day I add more to do on my to-do list, much do Dave’s dismay.  MY to-do list is often finished with a little help from him. 😉

So far, despite seeing the c.u.t.e. rake-turned-necklace-holder, I decided to finally ditch the lame jewelry box that never really held anything and take charge of my jewelry.  I debated between CUTE or PRACTICAL and practical won.  I’m happy with that choice. Amazon Prime helped me accomplish my goal super fast with their 2-day shipping.

Next, I decided that I could no longer look at Dave’s messy office every day.  I’ve tried everything a girl can do to help him keep it organized. I’ve purchased baskets, filing drawers, etc… I’ve helped, I’ve offered help, I’ve asked, begged, demanded. (Demanding never quite works for anything, does it. 😉 )  And finally, I decided that my goal should not be to make him more organized, but for ME to be at peace with the way he wants to keep his office.

I looked at all of the french door curtains. I hated them all.  I looked at making my own.  Decided against.  Then, I found the idea of window films.  Some looked good, others…not so much. I decided to try a stain-glass look.

Before: mess!

After: Well, half way. They ran out at Home Depot. Waiting for my Amazon order to arrive. Not 100% sure how I feel about them yet, but it accomplished my goal of closing the doors and the mess disappears!I’ve also decided enough is enough with booms and mops tossed around in my teeny-tiny laundry room.  SO, I bought an organzier off of Amazon. It should be here TODAY!

Yes, I’m going crazy with PROJECTS to keep my mind off of things.  Could be worse, I suppose?

Do you have any projects you think I should add to my list? If Korea keeps adding delays, I could have a new house soon! 😉

Okay I am sorry but this blog made me laugh, because it sounds so much like me. I just made Kenny his first list in a long while. Each child down to age 6 has a list. I have now had a daily list for 2 weeks. I will accomplish and conquer this house. LOL!

Loving the jewerly organizer. Planning my own pallet plan/furniture/wall.;) Let me know what you plan for the menu…I am stumped and tired of the same old same old.

First of all, we love the picture of Miles. 🙂 I am so sorry about all these delays. I don’t understand why Korea is moving so slow. Keep doing what you’re doing because you will have something to show by keeping busy with projects versus just sitting around. Love you guys.

Jen! I am doing the exact same thing! My project list includes: put in a back splash in the kitchen; put up bookshelves in the bedroom; make a custom bed skirt for our room; call around to get prices on refinishing our floors (ha! like that’ll happen). I like your ideas friend.

Nora, I’m DYING to put a backsplash up. Those cute little glass tiles from Home Depot? Take pictures. And then, when you’re done with that, you could make a custom bed skirt for MY bed! 😉 That would be pretty awesome. 😉
